TIP FOUR: Include a Strong Call-to-Action

The reason for creating your video is outlined in your video’s goals. But to get the results you need, it is critical that you include a strong call-to-action to increase target desired behavior from your viewers. Here are three things to remember when creating your call-to-action:

Make your call-to-action obvious and easy to remember. Be sure to add a simple but strong call-to-action at the end of each video. A good example is: “Volunteer today - Call (678) 924-0000” or “Make a difference in the life of a child – Give today at www.nonprofitname.org” or “Share this video with a friend.” Make sure the link or phone number you include is easy to remember.

Be consistent with the behavior you want to target. When you are creating a call-to-action, decide what you want your target audience to do. Don’t have a call-to-action that says “Learn more” and then direct people to a web page that isn’t relevant to the subject matter. People will get frustrated and most likely will leave your site.

Create a sense of urgency. Whenever possible, give your audience specific actions to be accomplished in a set time frame. This creates a sense of urgency which often will prompt immediate action.

FYI: If your video is part of an overall campaign, include deadline driven calls to action as part of your plan and strategy. This will be important in measuring your success.
